Phu-sian Temple

Located at Peace Valley, Lahug, Cebu City. It is a temple built on top of a sacred hill. Beneath the hills, the sacred waters from a natural spring is believed to have curative effects.
While the Taoist Temple is for adherents of Taoism in Cebu, the Phu Sian Temple is one for the Buddhists. It was built by Dharma Master Weichi, a Buddhist from China, in 1979 and was inaugurated in 1980. The temple occupies a lot that used to be the location of a restaurant. As of today, the Phu Sian Temple in Beverly Hills, Lahug, Cebu City, has no other branch in the Philippines and is operated by seven Buddhist monks, most of whom are of Chinese descent.
The temple building has an area wide enough for many people to perform their rituals in. People go to the temple to light joss sticks and pray to Buddha. Inside the temple could be seen the image of Buddha, as well as books on Buddhism written in the Chinese language. Outside the temple is a bulletin board narrating the life of Prince Siddharta Gautama, the founder of Buddhism. The temple also has a lush garden.
For the Chinese Cebuanos, both the Phu Sian and Taoist Temples are places of reverence, as well as places for re-energizing the spirit through meditation.
